Rule Review: Interference from the Kicker

Q: May a kicker foul off a pitch using a hand?

A: No. A kicker touching a pitched ball by hand (before it is called a Ball or Strike) is considered interference, and results in an OUT for the kicker (14.02e, 15.02c). Once a pitch is past the kicker and recorded as a Ball or Strike, there is no penalty for helping return the ball to the pitcher.
