Kickball Opening Day: Ball so Hard Grabs a Pair

BRYN MAWR, Minn – The signs of opening day were all around, the bunting was out, the stars a bit brighter, the grass a little greener and Ball so Hard with that look in their eye that this could be the year. Following quick introductions, Ball so Hard awaited their position on the scorecard vs Pitches be Crazy. A quick loss in rock, paper, scissors by their Captain slated the team in the visitor position.
Ball so Hard needed zero time to start off hot as seven singles fueled a four run first inning. Led by week one MVP Abby A. (Double A) who ended the game kicking 1.000 with a 3 for 3 performance.

Ball so Hard never looked back as they tacked on another run in the top of the 4th to take a 5-0 lead courtesy of a leadoffish triple by Jon who later scored on a Brandon sac fly. That’s all the runs they would need as the defense proved to be too puzzling for the Pitches. Backed by some amazing defense, including the play of the evening, Double A and Brandon’s designed tip-in-the-air-catch, Curtis and Brandon combined to pitch the shut-out. Ball so Hard cruised to a 5-0 week one victory. Starting talks of the possible undefeated season.

Ball so Hard pranced to Darby’s to complete the sweep with a flippy (tippy for some) cup. Following the forfeit victory, Ball so Hard humbly accepted the sweep on the evening.

Week two slates Ball so Hard vs Balls and Dolls at 7:30 p.m. on Field One as Ball so Hard looks to continue their historic season.

In other team news, fellow team mate Mary G. has been placed on the one day DL following an incident of being run into by a Bike. Caitlin A. has been placed on the indefinite DL following the MN Wild win and advancement in the NHL playoffs. Ali Canoe-it has been placed on the two week DL following the enrollment in college person classes. Cory Johnson’s officiating abilities are currently under review by the league following a ball to the face ruling in week one.
