Week 3: Ball So Hard
BALL SO HARD GETS THE BROOMS OUT
Bryn Mawr, MN - With all members of Ball so Hard finally being on hand for a game, game three of the short season proved to be dominating. Ball so Hard pushed out a one run lead in inning one followed by a strong eight run second inning. The kicks were inferno from there pressing to a strong 14-0 victory behind stingy pitching performance of Roger G. and Brad T. The streak of victories carried through the night with a impressive 4-0 flippy cup victory fueled by Lauren H. and company. The sweep was completed the hard riding of el cape’ tan, Phil in the bull riding competition to pull in the triplet of winning. Box score of performers of the night is as follows:
Lead off and first game of the year Cait A: 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored with a pair of catches with anticipated enthusiasm.
- Lauren M. a pair of singles with two runs scored with anticipated touchy feely approach.
- Cory J. pair of singles with two runs scored and early departure but an early season favorite for team and bar MVP attributed to early success and bar success
- Brad T. three for three with a pair of casual doubles and four innings of shut out pitching. Early CY Young candidate.
- Abby A. Two singles and three put outs with spectacular composure in the field.
- Halaina Balaina A single and a strategic walk to drive in in the first run of the game!
- Roger G. Questionable balls
- Lauren H. A strong single and an amazing survivor style flippy cup victory
- Ali Canoe-it Single and a run scored with an aggressive flippy cup performance
- Phil M. First homerun in ball so hard team history and bull riding championship
- Emily F. Two singles, runs scored
- Jason Powerfull single
- Adam 0 for 2 with a run scored, rode the bull hard, so hard.
- Carlos with a pair of singles and two runs scored
- Clint with two singles and a run scored, early CY young candidate.
- Erin with a run scored
If you add it all up it should equal 14, but who’s counting, it’s f’ing kickball.
Still failed to take a team photo, but we’re so hot… like the weather.
Song of the week for Ball so Hard, Started from the bottom, now we’re here:
Week 3: Hold My Beer and Watch This
The game started off slow and rules were disputed. The Bunt Pirates were giant decks, as can be seen by their pitcher’s hat and HMBaWT just could not catch a break.
Winning did occur at the bar in flip-cup and three team members made it to the final 5 in the bull riding competition. What up Michlle, Kaitlyn and Ginger?! Phil from Ball so Hard was just too big of a cowboy for them though. This kickballer thinks it was Phil’s shirtless final ride that won it!
The police showed up, (this time not because of a confused man playing with himself though) f*ckin’ softballers… and HMBaWT had our first “fire drill” during which all beers were hid within30 seconds (good work team!). The game didn’t go so hot otherwise and HMBaWT lost a tough one for the second week.
The mid-season party was un-eventful, aside from copious amounts of firewater being consumed. 2 of the 3 HMBaWT flip cup teams fell to the eventual winners Sluts ‘n Cups. To drown sorrows Stadium Pizza was consumed.
Fin.
Week 3: Balls and Dolls
Week 3: Booze on First?
An intercepted email from "Booze on First?" !
So Week 3 is in the books...
So Week 3 is in the books...
- Holy kickballs we had the greatest two out, four chick rally in WAKA history. Nothing beats a walk off win!
- We are undefeated on the field but defeated at the bar. We have not won a flip cup match yet.
- Sidelines were dead until we won. We need more booze in us…
- Who can make Jell-O-Shots for next week? I overheard someone say they could make some.
- I will bring a large vat of White Russians. This needs to be empty by the 3rd inning

| The Dude approves this decision... |
- New Team Rule ... Anyone who strikes or fouls out has to shotgun a beer before the start of the next inning! (GMOT suggests icing as well for an extra leve of humiliation ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icing_(game) )
Weekly Awards:
MVP: Kristina, she was money all game and clutch at the end with the game winner.
Play of the game: I could not single out one play out so I am going with the four “hits” from Melissa 2, Lindsay, Kate and Kristina that led us to victory!
Golden Boot(best kick of the game): Total embarrassment to total redemption for Keegan with a two run bomb in the first inning. Kudos to me for batting him clean up!
Brown Glove(worst defensive player): Matt looked like a baboon wearing oven mitts in centerfield. He bobbled one ball and dropped a pop fly that eventually led to the run the tied the game up.
Kate B. Award (worst attitude): Kate had some competition this week but she still held on for the win.
Andy L.Award (drunkest person): Andy is your winner. I received numerous unreadable text messages from him around 2AM. It was weird, but I kind of liked it...
Week 3: You Kicked My Battleship
Last night we couldn't quite come away with a win on the kickball field or at the flip-cup table, but everyone contributed and had a good time. Kayode brought the "Big House" and set the tone for the party. Ryan strategically constructed the lineup card better than Twins' manager Ron Gardenhire could have done. Scott K. made a dazzling debut with the team with a couple nice catches and a nice job at the plate. Sarah got her team shirt, but might have to take it to a tailor. Jen was ready to kick some balls, and did well even with an injured leg. Gina did her best behind the plate to keep our cocky opponents in check. Inge was playing some mad defense at 3rd base and saved probably 5 runs from scoring. Gleb dodged cricket balls as he tracked down fly balls in left field. Kyle played a few different positions and nothing got past him. Johanna was always 3rd up to bat, which she doesn't prefer, but got some nice kicks in anyway. Meghan and Lexie played exceptionally, mostly because they didn't have to put up with Taylor's nonsense.
Scott L. was good at eating the pasta at the after party. Then Robin started off the bull-riding competition with a bucking good ride. Steve also rode the bull and got some nice style points with a crazy choreographed routine. You had to see it to believe it!
Taylor will return from kickball managers training camp next week and hopefully we'll be able to notch our first win!

Welcome to Week 3
This week’s theme is "Wild, Wild, West"!
Whether you're a cowboy or Indian, outlaw or bootlegger, the important thing is that you dress the part and compete for the costume contest! Also don't forget to sign up for the 2nd Annual WAKA Bull-Riding Contest!
Your inspiration is below:
See you on the field!
P.S. Text your kickball and flip cup scores to 612.467.9252 every week too. It is hard to have accurate standings if we're making everything up!
President's Corner
Now that we're a couple weeks in I figured that I could bestow upon everyone some knowledge. Kickball rules from the one and only, your president, Kicklord Johnson!
The first rule of kickball is...you do talk about kickball. The second rule of kickball is...you DO talk about kickball! Now that that's out of the way…
3. When you kick the ball, RUN YOUR ASS to first. ~No one has been called safe at first because they watched the ball dribble into the outfield and pranced to first. Bitch this ain't hopscotch! And since you can't kick a HR, save your Big Papi stare and trot for another sport. Move your ass. (A little aggressive I know)
4. Know when you need to run. ~I have been the victim of this many times resulting in senseless outs. We don't need a suicide squeeze at every possible chance. This is why we have base coaches. And ladies if there's a guy in front of you, make sure to watch your burning speed and not catch up to him. We know this would never happen with a guy catching our girls, they're just too fast. On that note...
5. Run aggressively, not stupidly. ~Push it around the bases. This is especially true if there's no one in front of you and you have a true sense of your speed and willingness to slide. If you're slow and/or unwilling to slide we'll all be happy with your safe single.
6. When you take the field, play defense! ~We want everyone to play who wants to play. If you don't want to be close to the action, try the outfield and place yourself between two trusted people. If you can handle catching the ball and making the throw to first then you're welcome to join us in the infield. And if you can handle balls in your face (1 at a time) then hop on over to first. However, we will not be holding tryouts late in the game when it's close.
7. Catchers have to be ready for the bunt and plays at home! ~It's important that in bunting situations you can pick up the ball and throw it to first, third, or even protect home. The third basemen should be ready as well to help in bunting situations. Catchers you also have to talk shit to the kickers...duh.
8. Communicate ~Call for the ball, talk about the outs, make fun of the kicker, know where the play is at, and tell jokes in the outfield. But remember, if you're going for the ball, call for it so we don't get injured. Don't be afraid of the ball, its rubber. The humiliation will last far longer! Just kidding! The worst that'll happen is you get iced (that's pretty bad) or you take a shot (that's pretty good). No one will remember how you royally screwed up by the next inning. Except for the eye in the sky, it sees everything.
9. 4 Girls ~Anywhere on the field, just need four. Be sure to rotate so that everyone gets a chance to play in the field.
Vice President's Corner
Two weeks down and six more to go! It's been a chilly couple of weeks but it looks excellent this week.
It's been a pleasure getting to know everyone and meet the new teams. I've been trying to get out there and say hi. Myself and Kicklord Johnson will continue to do so because nothing says kickball like high fives, flip cup, and drinking beer!
Don't forget the Mid Season party this Saturday. You'd be a fool to miss this AMAZING event. Let the interwebs know you're going! Details below incase you don't know ... you DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!!!

VP Bunting Backes
P.S. With the weather warming up here is how your VP and President wear their sunglasses.
Charity Update
Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Okay, bad.
A rando drunk person tried to take over kickball on Thursday! I know, some of you are probably texting your friends asking exactly what happened on Thursday, but unless your master plans included calling the president to protest (Amanda Bynes, is that you?) and stealing a bunch of watches, I don't think it was you. Thank goodness for the Kicklord Johnson stepping up to the plate (get it? kickball reference) and protecting all his subjects from chaos and thievery. But that's not the bad news. Due to the disturbance, cold weather, and this girl being in high demand to fill in for missing ladies from other teams, the original Jell-O shot plan got mildly derailed.
The good news you ask? The Chairty Chairs will have Jell-O shots for sale this week! It's supposed to be nearly 80 (finally, no?) and I sure can't think of anything that quenches your thirst more than a Jell-O shot! So as always, bring dollars to the field, and let's celebrate the actual start of Spring League! Woo! Warm weather and shots for a dolla, holla!
