Week 7: Booze on First?

Nuts and bolts, Nuts and Bolts we got SCREWED!  

We dropped our third straight game after a tough call took back a homerun.  The home plate umpire decided against his better judgment to overrule the first base umpire and decide the bomb to right field was a foul ball.  Understanding this a judgment call and there is no line out there to help them but how can you call back a homerunafter the person ran all the way around the bases?  Yes it was a close call, but this is KICKball!?!?  Do not take back an amazing KICK if you are unsure!!!   We want revenge and we will hopefully get a crack at these clown umpires on the field in a playoff matchup.

None the less, we battled back and took the lead only to have final out bounce off Ryan who was attempting to play third base.  This error allowed two runs and ended the game as it was the bottom half of the final inning.  He was punished after the game with a beer shotgun (video attached). We told Ryan the wrong the game time for next week so hopefully he misses the game…

On the bright side we were able to get in the win column by beating a shorthanded “Ball So Hard” team.  This victory sparked an amazing celebration as our team dominated the bull riding and hammered jaeger bombs like it was no one business.

Week 7: Hold My Beer And Watch This

Gather around y’all for a tale unlike you have ever heard before.  For this past week was monumental for Hold My Beer And Watch This (HMBAWT).  We took to the field full of beer, Franzia ad fire, fire for a victory with playoffs just around the corner.  We got off to an early lead fueled by cheap beer and the reward of the opportunity to slap the bag if you made it to first.  Pitches Be Crazy fired back and got within a couple runs, but in the end HMBAWT this came out on top.  After the game a beer inning was played (beer in your hand and slap the bag before kicking) and HMBAWT won this as well.  

Notes:

• Two birthdays were on the field, one from each team … what up birthday twinsies?!
• HMBAWT thinks all games should be decide with a beer inning … maybe because we’re goo at it, or maybe because it is ‘Merican!
• It is hard to finish a WHOLE box of Franzia in one game … we should have started earlier.
• HMBAWT dominated ‘Merica night, as seen below… 'Merica stunner shades?! Get on our level!

• HMBAWT also explained to the refs why it is hard to crush Budweiser bowtie cans … yea, we’re engineers … (Protip: Don’t drink bowtie Budweiser, they are only 11.3oz … stupid pansies from You’re Killing Me Smalls …)

Now comes the never heard before (in this season) … HMBAWT lost in 5 games in flip cup.  Perhaps it was because of Whisky Park not having cheesy bread sticks on the food spread, maybe HMBAWT drank too much (ha … just kidding) or maybe just a bad bounce.  Regardless HMBAWT suffered their first loss and are looking to avenge themselves’ against Booze on First … in flip cup at least.

President's Corner

Don't panic just yet, everyone has at least 3 more games of kickball left. How, you ask? You're guaranteed a spot in the playoffs! Use the next two games to hone your drinking skills, bag slapping, and jello shot making because we'll need you in pristine condition come June 22nd for all day playoffs. If you happen to learn how to catch, kick, or throw the kickball between now and then count that as style points.

In other news...the sun has decided to show its face this week. How nice of him. How nice of him to wait until week 7. I'm going to take some credit because I did sun salutations last week in the middle of the field followed by singing rounds of "Mr. Golden Sun". Hopefully this plays well into next week as we prepare for Wet 'N Wild night (or whatever we're calling it).

Lastly, I'd like to thank my kickball FAMILY for celebrating my birthday with me. A birthday during the kickball season AND on a kickball night, how lucky! The lovely Charity Chair (AKA my "current" girlfriend) secretly planned and orchestrated a cake, song, dance, champagne bottles, petting zoo, elephant rides and another double kickball win. How clever!

Don't forget to come this week to support 'Merica and Old Glory a day earlier. Why? Because it's the damn country you live in that allows you to play kickball like a fourth grader and drink like a freshmen. And we can't all be Edward Snowden.

Vice Prez Corner

Wow is this season flying by?!?! But what a blast it's been so far!

It's been a pleasure getting to know different players and teams this season and I can't wait to meet more. I had to miss the dance party at Whisky Park last Thursday and looking at the pictures I am more than disappointed in myself. Having been on the winning team for the Dance Competition in the Winter Bar League, shout out to Beer Pressure (Megan B, Tim R, Kari A, Michaela K, AJ, and Trevor), we should have been there to defend our title. Needless to say watch out for us this week at the Flip Cup tables because we came to play flip cup and chew bubble gum and we're all out of bubble gum!

Keep an eye out this week for the ever famous "Wheel". If you haven't seen this in a season you my friends are in for a treat. Swing by field 1 for the 7:30 game and watch Stage Five Clingers bring a new element to the game.
